Mike VanHouten Sweeps the Fall Classic
and Wins the 2005 Minimods Championship!
Sept. 30, 2005; Lake
Geneva, WI. - Mike
Van Houten of Cary,Illinois made it look exciting as he took fast time, won the heat and the 15 lap feature race for a clean
sweep.Mike took the points standings by just thirty five points over Curt Thomazin. In third for the season is Glen
Vernezze with 3165 points, Jerry Giuliano has 3120 and Chris Thomazin completed the top five with 2815 points. The mini
modified feature got off to a rocky start, as Bill Trusky spun in turn four, with everyone missing him, but it was the first
Yellow book caution period that followed. On lap four Mike Van Houten was up front after starting in the back of the event.The
next caution came after Jesse Johnson spun and two laps later for a spin by Scott McCarthy.Each time VanHouten would stay
in front of the field.

mini modified feature would go non stop as Bill Trusky led the race with Scott McCarthy, Jerry Giuliano and John DeMay next.Scooting
up the outside Mike VanHouten moved from fifth on lap two, to second on lap four and hanging with the leader the next six
laps before moving out front, going on to win the event over Curt Thomazin who nipped Trusky at the wire, Giuliano was fourth,
Chris Thomazin in Jesse Johnson’s car for fifth and DeMay next.

August 26, 2005; Lake
Geneva, WI. - The
mini modified feature got off to a very rocky start as the first lap was trying to be completed. First Ken Johnson flew off
turn three and out came the Yellow Book USA caution period. In the melee Jerry Giuliano somehow got onto the infield and ran
head on into the large tire protecting the power supply and concrete abutment. He was not injuried but the race car was.Both
drivers never returned to the complete restart. Chris Thomazin shot in front of the field and despite a caution on lap seven,he
held onto the lead for the win,with quick timer Mike VanHouten second, Chris’s Father, Curt was third, Bill Trusky fourth,
Phil Schultz fifth and Barry Trusky in his best finish of the season sixth.

Geneva, WI. - Jerry
Giuliano moved in front for just one lap,but then Curt Thomazin stormed out front and never looked back for another win.Mike
VanHouten looked like a sure challenger,but with just one lap to go, the only Yellow Book USA caution period came as VanHouten
spun,dashing any chance to take the front position. The green, white, checkered situation brought Sonny Schoffen in the Glen
Vernezze car right up to the leader, but Thomazin was up to the call and won the feature over Schoffen, Chris Thomazin, Giuliano
and John DeMay, for a thrilling mini modified event. .

VanHouten led every lap of the non stop mini modified feature for the win. Jerry Giuliano who took fast time and won the dash,fell
short with second place for a clean sweep. Bill Trusky was third, Glen Vernezze was fourth with Curt Thomazin fifth and Jesse
Johnson in his second night out this season in sixth.

VanHouten led the first half of the race, before Curt Thomazin moved in front to win the contest. VanHouten was second, withGlen

Thomazin took the lead of the mini modified feature and held the front spot until lap three when Jerry Giuliano moved in front
and never looked back. Despite a late bobble, giving Curt Thomazin time for a serious challenge to the leader.
The leader held his own taking the win just in front of Thomazin. Mike VanHouten was third, Bill Trusky was fourth and
Chris Thomazin fifth.

July 15, 2005; Lake
Geneva, WI. - The
mini modified feature saw Chris Thomazin out front at the display of the double greens. Curt Thomazin was second for just
one lap before Bill Trusky moved in that position for one lap,before Thomazin went back into second., then into the lead on
lap five, with Trusky right on his tail. Fast time quailifier Glen Vernezze was already two thirds of the way to a clean sweep
slipped into third with five laps to go. Mike Van Houten was fourth, with a glowing left rear rotor. Coming around for the
checkered flag it looked like Thomazin would win the event,until turn three, when Trusky shot under him and sailed home to
a surprised Thmoazin who took second,Vernezze was right at his side in third, with Jerry Giuliano fourth and Curt Thomazin,
nipping Van Houten for fifth in another exciting race.

July 2, 2005; Lake Geneva,
WI. - The
mini modified feature was only four laps old when Curt and Chris Thomazin tangled bringing the event to a stop with Ken Johnson
out front of the field. With the green out again, Johnson walked away with the lead and easily won the feature event over
fast qualifier Glen Vernezze, Mike VanHouten, Andy Krueger and a recovered Curt Thomazin.

Thomazin led lap number one,before fast timer Glen Vernezze came through the field quickly taking the lead on lap two. Once
in front it looked like the new leader would win the race, but with just one lap to go, a lapped car got in the way and Curt
Thomazin who was some eight car lengths back, choose the high side and won the race over Vernezze, Bill Trusky, Mike Van Houten
and Chris Thomazin.

June 17, 2005; Lake
Geneva, WI. - The
mini modified feature was another four deep start,as Jerry Giuliano won the race to the corner. John DeMay coasted to the
pits with a blown clutch one lap later. Curt Thomazin scooted around the leader on lap two, with Mike VanHouten following
his every move. Two lap later Bill Trusky moved into third, with quick timer Glen Vernezze right on his bumper. A few more
laps were recorded, as Chris Thomazin joined the fray at the top. On lap ten Vernezze and Trusky made contact in a racing
incident they would be talking about for weeks. The only caution of the event came out and Vernezze’s night was over
one more time with a broken tie rod. The restart would begin a five lap dash for all the marbles, as Thomazin finished just
in front of VanHouten, third went to Chris Thomazin, fourth was Giuliano and Trusky recovered for fifth.

Geneva, WI. - Veteran
Lusia’s pizzeria mini modified driver Glen Vernezze missed a clean sweep by taking fourth in the heat, but took fast
time and won the 15 lap feature. The mini modified feature brought guest driver Duck Wack out front in Ken Johnson’s
car. A slight bobble by the leader was all Glen Vernezze needed to move out front and never look back for the win. The race
behind him was good,as Mike Van Houten came in second, with Wack just ahead of Chris Thomazin and Bill Trusky for another
close race.

WI. - The
mini modified feature winner Mike VanHouten just missed a clean sweep with his second place in the heat. Glen Vernezze looked
like a sure winner of the main event,but a turn four bobble, gave VanHouten the break he needed and the lead changed on lap
four, but Curt Thomazin moved past Vernezze who finished third, Thomzin fall short at the checkered by just two car lengths,
Bill Trusky was fifth and John DeMay sixth in his most improved run.

WI. - In
mini modified feature action Ken Johnson moved into the lead at the get go and never looked back.Mike VanHouten looked like
a serious threat, but handling problems after starting his challenge against the leader,ended on lap eight,when VanHouten
nearly spun. Fast timer Glen Vernezze ended up second but never got that close to Johnson the winner.Curt Thomazin was third,
with VanHouten fourth, Chris Thomazin fifth and John DeMay sixth.

WI. - The
mini modified feature started off with fast qualifier, defending champion Ken Johnson out front, but quickly Glen Vernezze
stormed in front and never looked back for the win. Mike VanHouten who came into tonights show the point leader had handling
problems throughout the race, spinning for the only caution of the race. Then Van Houten worked his way back to second only
to nearly spin again. Curt Thomazin was second, Johnson third, Chris Thomazin fourth, Bill Trusky fifth as Van Houten
recovered for sixth. With the win Vernezze takes over the point lead by five points.

WI. - The
mini modified feature wasn’t even one lap old when fast timer Glen Vernezze night ended quickly after getting squeezed
into the wall, bending up his front end,creating a complete restart, minus Vernezze, who was not injuried in the melee. With
the green back out, Chris Thomazin snuck in front for four laps before Mike VanHouten grabbed the top spot and never
looked back, winning the event over Thomazin, Curt Thomazin, Bill Trusky and Jerry Giuliano in the former championship car
of Ken Johnson.
