Jerry Giuliano of Schaumburg.IL.took a clean sweep of the Luisa’s pizzeria mini modifieds. Jerry took fast time, won the heat and ran away with the 15 lap feature race.

August 11, 2006; Lake Geneva, WI. - The mini modified feature may have short on cars, but unbelievable on action, as Chris Thomazin led the first lap. His father Curt scooted around his son. By lap four quick timer Jerry Giuliano was up to second. It took some time before Giuliano caught the leader, taking the lead on lap nine, then taking the win six laps later. Curt Thomazin was second, with Vince Heywood third, Scott McCarthy fourth, Chris Thoamzin fifth and Johnathan Gagne sixth.

Nick Peska of Antioch,Il. won his first career 15 lap Luisa’s mini modified feature.

July 28, 2006; Lake Geneva, WI. - The mini modified feature went non stop as Curt Thomazin led the first lap. NickPeska forged in front one lap later and thirteen laps later,the rookie was the winner. For the entire race, Peska was haunted by multi time champion Ken Johnson who took a close second. Thomazin was third, with Jonathn Gagne in his best finish fourth. Scott McCarthy was fifth and Chris Thomazin was sixth.

July 7, 2006; Lake Geneva, WI. - The non stop mini modified feature saw Curt Thomazin take the lead on lap four, after John DeMay and Scott McCarthy lead a few laps. Once  in front Thomazin had first night driver Nick Pesta chase him the last ten laps. Jerry Giuliano was third. Chris Thomazin was fourth McCarthy was fifth and Jesse Johnson back in his own race car finish sixth.

Phil Schultz Drives the #97 Car to Victory

June 23, 2006; Lake Geneva, WI. - The weekly program was marred by a first lap in the dash for the Lusia’s pizzeria mini modifieds, as Mike VanHouten of Cary, Illinois,the defending champion.VanHouten violently flipped his race car up to four and one half times, but escaped injury, in a racing incident that  totally demolished his number 24 race car.

It took Phil Schultz just three laps to gain the lead, after Scott McCarthy led the first two go rounds. Last weeks feature winner Curt Thomazin chased Schultz the whole race, taking second to Schultz for his first win of the year for the former champion driving the Vince Heywood machine. Jerry Giuliano was a close third, with Scott Johnson in his first race ever was fourth. Chris Thomazin was fifth and McCarthy sixth in mini modified action.

June 16, 2006; Lake Geneva, WI. - Scott McCarthy led laps one through four of the mini modified feature Then a caution period came when Jesse Johnson lost a wheel, that flew high into the  air before coming to rest on the far end of the old bleacher not being used in years. On the restart McCarthy led one more lap before Curt Thomazin moved in front for the win. It wasn’t that easy as the winner was chased for the last ten laps by Phil Schultz in Vince Heywood’s mount, taking second.Glen Vernezze was a close third, McCarthy fourth, as Sonny Schoffen and Bill Trusky in Mike Van Houten’s race car came across the line fifth and sixth respectively.

Partial Rainout

June 9, 2006; Lake Geneva, WI.  It was a wet rainy night at Lake Geneva Raceway Friday night for the family fun race program. A faithful crowd came out to watch the weekly show that nearly was completed. An on again, off again rain fell throughout the night and then stopped the program before all  features could run.

Bill Trusky of Johnsburg,IL. drove the Mike VanHouten Luisa’s pizzeria mini modified to his first feature victory in the 16 lap event

May 27, 2006; Lake Geneva, WI. - John DeMay shot out front of the mini modified feature with Jerry Giuliano in the Glenn Vernezze car along side before the lap eneded, then in front one lap later. Bill Trusky took only six laps to move up to second after taking fast time earlier. With just three laps to go Trusky finally caught the leader and went on to win the non stop event. Giuliano held onto second with Jesse Johnson along side for third. Curt Thomazin was fourth with 2005 rookie of the year Barry Trusky fifth in his first good night of the young season. Vince Heywood was sixth.

May 19, 2006; Lake Geneva, WI. - John DeMay held the lead one lap of the mini modified feature with Bill Trusky taking over one lap later. Then on lap five things got ugly, as the back of the field mixed it up, sending quick timer Mike VanHouten  and Jesse Johnson to the pits on the hook. VanHouten came back before the green reappeared with Chris Thomazin now the new leader four the next four laps. But then Vince Heywood caught the leader and moved by, going on to win the race over Glenn Vernezze,Scott McCarthy, DeMay, VanHouten and Jonathan Gagne.

Mike VanHouten Sweeps the Bilderback Small Car Championships!

May 5, 2006; Lake Geneva, WI. - Defending Luisa’s pizzeria mini modifieds champion Mike VanHouten of Cary,IL. had a great night by taking a clean sweep.  Mike took fast time, won the heat and the 15 lap feature starting off the season just the way he hoped it would go.  The mini modified feature saw Curt Thomazin shoot out front with Bill Trusky, John DeMay and Jesse Johnson all over the leader. On lap five something caused Barry Trusky to fly off of the track just into turn one. The caution appeared and the leader for some unknown reason went into the pits and never returned for the remainder of the non stop event to follow. On the restart Mike VanHouten raced Doctor Tooth Ken Johnson in the Vince Heywood race car to the corner side by side. No one would give, but coming off turn two, VanHouten inched ahead and then never looked back for the win. Johnson helds onto second with Scott McCarthy third, Jesse Johnson was fourth, Trusky fifth and DeMay sixth, in another good race.
